We are a diverse congregation of approximately 1,500 members located in Herndon Virginia, seeking a full time Children and Youth Pastor.
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to serve as our Children and Youth Pastor. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in biblical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a heart for nurturing the spiritual growth of young people. They will be responsible for leading our children and youth ministry (3-18), fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment, and equipping young individuals to live out their faith in today's world.
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Responsibilities-Children and Youth Ministry
- Youth Ministry Leadership
- Lead and oversee all aspects of the youth ministry, including weekly gatherings, small groups, retreats, and special events.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive youth program that fosters spiritual growth, discipleship, and community among youth members.
- Provide biblical teaching and mentorship that is relevant and engaging to youth of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Cultivate an atmosphere of authenticity, acceptance, and love where youth feel safe to explore and grow in their faith.

Volunteer Management
- Recruit, train, and equip volunteers to serve in various capacities within the youth ministry.
- Provide ongoing support, encouragement, and resources to volunteer leaders, empowering them to effectively minister to youth.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and mutual support among volunteers and youth ministry staff.

Communication and Outreach
- Effectively communicate with youth, parents, and church leadership about upcoming events, programs, and opportunities for involvement.
- Utilize various communication channels, including social media, email, and in-person meetings, to engage with youth and their families.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local schools, community organizations, and other churches to reach out to youth in the community.

- Demonstrate a strong commitment to personal spiritual growth and ongoing professional development.
- Maintain a consistent prayer life and cultivate a deep relationship with God, serving as a spiritual role model for youth and volunteers.
- Stay informed about current trends, issues, and challenges facing youth culture, and integrate relevant insights into ministry programming.
- A positive, outgoing personality who enjoys building and leading teams.
- An effective multi-tasker with self-motivated work style.
- Prayerful in disposition and gentle and humble in character.
- Able to organize and coordinate services and events, effective in planning and time management.
Additional Responsibilities
- Meet with and report to Senior Pastor and Directors of the church.
- Carry out other Pastoral duties as required in the life of the church as determined by the Senior Pastor.
- Preach during Sunday services as needed or determined by Senior Pastor
- To assist, when able, the Senior Pastor with visitation of members and prospective members.
- Programs and ministries should be coordinated with the Senior Pastor.
- All staff members should plan to participate in church wide events and lend their assistance and support to the total church program.
- Maintain budget for Children and Youth Ministry
- Ability to report and track financial spending of Children and Youth Ministry
The Children and Youth Pastor is to set an example of spiritual maturity and personal health. He/She is to maintain a healthy marriage and family life or single life and exhibit financial soundness.
Qualifications
- Must be Baptized (immersed) Believer
- Meet Elder qualification of 1Timothy and Titus 1
- Fully believes and supports the entire Bible as God’s Word.
- Bachelor's degree and Master of Divinity degree (preferred)
- Licensed and Ordained
- 3-5 years of experience working with youth in a ministry setting.
- Proven leadership experience, including leading volunteer groups and teams.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with youth and adults alike.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- High integrity, with a commitment to living out biblical principles in both personal and professional life.
- Cultural familiarity and maturity, with an understanding of and appreciation for the diversity of youth backgrounds and experiences.
- Proficiency in Bible knowledge and the ability to effectively teach and communicate biblical truths to youth.
- A vibrant prayer life and a demonstrated ability to lead others in prayer and spiritual formation.
- Confidence, initiative, and a passion for empowering young people to live out their faith boldly.
- Ability to lead, delegate, and empower others, with a focus on building and maintaining strong teams.
