Youth and Young Adults Ministry

Our Theme:

Building a Healthy Youth Ministry: from the “Great Commandment” to the “Great Commission.”

Our Scripture:

The Great Commandment

Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22: 27-39

The Great Commission

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

Vision Statement

Through the anointing of the Holy Spirit, we continue to be a spiritually healthy, Christ-centered, biblically based ministry that equips all youth to live radically committed lives to Jesus Christ while empowering them to reach out and share the good news of Jesus Christ through the world.

Mission Statement

The Youth & Young Adults Ministry exists to REACH non-believing youth and to encourage believing youth to help them SHARE in God's word, OFFER themselves in SERVICE to Christ and to CARE for one another.

Purpose Statement

Our Purpose is twofold: (1) Maintain clear focus on social outreach and personal evangelism, and (2) Pursue and reflect the ministry's five-fold purpose as commanded by Jesus Christ and manifested in the early church, the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-39) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28: 19-20).

Youth & Young Adults Ministry Guide & Organizational Chart

The Youth & Young Adults Ministry, to include our youth advisors, parents, and all youth, will continue to be driven by our purpose to build a ministry that clearly reflects Evangelism, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, and Worship.

Youth & Young Adults Prayer Ministry

The Y&YA ministry believes that God desires to make Himself manifest to His people by honoring His Word in answered prayer. We also believe that as we spend time in God’s Word we will be better able to understand His will for our ministry. The Y&YA Prayer Ministry conducts ministry prayer and individual prayer with members of the ministry. In addition, this ministry places our pastors, church leaders, ministry leaders, and congregations as a high priority. Prayer undergirds all that happens within our ministry.

Scripture (s):

“Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found.” (Psalm 32:6)

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” I Thessalonians: 5:16-18

This ministry is the back-bone of the Y&YA ministry and is under the leadership and guidance of our fulltime executive assistant. The mission of this ministry is to support the Director of Youth & Young Adults, youth ministry leaders, and youth volunteers, through efficient and effective office administration such as developing and organizing ministry correspondences, coping, faxing, scheduling, supply ordering, producing and editing announcements, etc.). In addition, this ministry supports the church office staff and the congregation.

Scripture:

“In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.” Acts 6:1-4

Step Team Ministry: In God’s Name (IGN)

The Step Team Ministry, better known as In GOD’s Name (IGN), utilizes Biblically infused step presentations to display a unique form of praise for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Step Team ministry provides a disciplined and structured Christian environment for pre-teens and teens ages 12yrs - 18yrs to practice fellowship and study the Word of God. The ministry encourages each member to recognize their unique gifts from God, and explore the use of those gifts as one body to unashamedly share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Scripture:

“ For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others." Romans 12:4-5

Young Adult Ministry (YAM)

Our young adults will stay engaged through the Young Adult Ministry (YAM). They can transition from being in our teen ministry to becoming advisors or leaders. We will ensure that the spiritual development of these young people continues as they go through the formative process of establishing themselves and who they are, their careers and their independence. In addition, this ministry will keep the young adults of the church (18yrs - 35yrs) with other “like minded” young adults in other ministries that can provide Godly counsel as they go forth to make their mark in life.

Scripture:

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”  1Timothy 4:12

“Parents Just Don’t Understand” (Parents Ministry)

The strength of the church is based on the spiritual life of its members and families. God expects families to have mutually satisfying relationships. The purpose of our parent’s ministry is to support our Parents and encourage them to support their children on their spiritual journey. This ministry provides support, resources, and workshops to the parents within our ministry that will enable them to connect with their children and keep them abreast of the forever-changing world of their child(ren).

Scripture:

“Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.” Proverbs 1:8-9

Mentoring Ministry

A three-fold ministry to mentor, support and encourage the youth (and their parents) as they develop their personal relationship with God through the loving guidance and support of other Christ-like mentors and to lead those to Christ that maybe unsure of where their destiny lies. This ministry will also provide a safe environment for our youth to grow, share, and equip them to be a witness to their friends and family about God’s greatness.

Scripture:

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 16-17
