MINISTRIES:

Children and Youth Ministry

Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website for the Children & Youth Ministry. It has become my earnest desire as a growing leader to identify the continual needs of our children, youth, and parents to grow this ministry. Therefore, as the Youth Pastor, I personally seek to discover the factors that make a strong and effective youth ministry. As well, seek how to both affect the longevity and the successfulness of those who are constantly involved in the lives of our youth, for they are our leaders of tomorrow. I believe that getting the perspectives of youth, youth advisors, and parents are vital ingredients in understanding how to become more vibrant and effective in this ministry.

I firmly believe that as we grow together, we must take time to converse, fellowship, learn, and stretch one another to reach the fullest potential that God has blessed us with. I welcome you to let’s join hands, build, and persevere through this journey; holding on to God’s unchanging hand as we move forward to make progress together.

Lastly, I’m reminded of the familiar words of the Apostle Paul’s charge to Timothy. Hence, I use it as an excerpted charge to each of you: “Don’t let anyone look down on you, set an example in your speech, in conduct, and faith; wholly devout yourself to the reading of scripture, and to the teachings of Christ; do not neglect your gift which was given to you through Christ Jesus.” With this, I believe God will continue to bless each of you and your families.

…and remember, Prayer Works!

Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam,
Rev. Nathaniel Brooks, M.Div.
Director of Children & Youth ~ Youth Pastor

Our Theme:

Building a Healthy Youth Ministry: from the “Great Commandment” to the “Great Commission.”

Our Scripture:

The Great Commandment

Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22: 27-39

The Great Commission

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

Vision Statement

Through the anointing of the Holy Spirit, we continue to be a spiritually healthy, Christ-centered, biblically based ministry that equips all youth to live radically committed lives to Jesus Christ while empowering them to reach out and share the good news of Jesus Christ through the world.

Mission Statement

The Children & Youth ministry exists to REACH non-believing youth and to encourage believing youth to help them SHARE in God's word, OFFER themselves in SERVICE to Christ and to CARE for one another.

Purpose Statement

Our Purpose is twofold: (1) Maintain clear focus on social outreach and personal evangelism, and (2) Pursue and reflect the ministry's five-fold purpose as commanded by Jesus Christ and manifested in the early church, the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-39) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28: 19-20).

Children & Youth Ministry Guide & Organizational Chart

The Children & Youth ministry, to include our youth advisors, parents, and all youth, will continue to be driven by our purpose to build a ministry that clearly reflects Evangelism, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, and Worship.

Children & Youth Prayer Ministry

The C&Y ministry believes that God desires to make Himself manifest to his people by honoring His Word in answered prayer. We also believe that as we spend time in God’s Word we will be better able to understand his will for our ministry. The C& Y prayer ministry conducts ministry prayer and individual prayer with members of the ministry. In addition, this ministry places our pastors, church leaders, ministry leaders, and congregations as a high priority. Prayer undergirds all that happens within our ministry.

Scripture (s):

“Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found.” (Psalm 32:6)

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” I Thessalonians: 5:16-18

  Children & Youth Administration Ministry

This ministry is the back-bone of the Children & Youth ministry and is under the leadership and guidance of our fulltime administrative assistant. The mission of this ministry is to support the Director of Children& Youth, youth ministry leaders, and youth volunteers, through efficient and effective office administration such as developing and organizing ministry correspondences, coping, faxing, scheduling, supply ordering, producing and editing announcements, etc.). In addition, this ministry supports the church office staff and the congregation.

Scripture:

“In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.” Acts 6:1-4

  Young Adult Ministry (YAM)

Our young adults will stay engaged through the Young Adult Ministry (YAM). They can transition from being in our teen ministry to becoming advisors or leaders. We will ensure that the spiritual development of these young people continues as they go through the formative process of establishing themselves and who they are, their careers and their independence. In addition, this ministry will keep the young adults of the church (18yrs - 35yrs) with other “like minded” young adults in other ministries that can provide Godly counsel as they go forth to make their mark in life.

Scripture:

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25
